TOKYO Actress Kyoko Hasegawa, 26, was the TV commercial queen in the Nagoya region in 2004 and this year looks set to challenge fellow-actress Aya Ueto, 19, for the most popular TV commercial face in the Kanto region, according to a Video Research House report carried in Sankei Sports this week.
Currently, Hasegawa appears in eight TV commercials, hawking products for Canon, Nippon Life Insurance, NTT DoCoMo, Takeda Foods, Kose, Chiba Vision, Hoyu and Crymson. She is expected to be in many more TV commercials this year.
In terms of air time, Video Research said that Hasegawa's total came to 516,510 seconds. That breaks down roughly into 177,315 seconds for Kanto, 170,025 seconds for Kansai and 169,170 seconds for the Nagoya region.
In 2003, Hasegawa wasn't even in the top 10, reported Video Research which monitors the ad appearances of celebrities. That year, she was ranked 16th in the Kanto region, 31st in the Kansai and 36th in the Nagoya region.
Hasegawa got a boost in January when she was named the best dressed female celebrity in her 20s. (Translated by Sachie Kanda)
